Abstract
This paper reports on one of the first research projects focusing on governance arrangements in organizational KM programs. The paper describes the research methodology and the individual analytical processes which have been employed for data collection and analysis. Following a comparison of different research approaches multiple case research was identified as the appropriate methodology to address the exploratory nature of the KM governance research domain. Alternatives for case selection strategies and data analysis techniques are discussed and it is shown how the different choices were evaluated. The paper concludes by discussing the particular challenges of conducting research in the KM domain and the particular value multiple case research methodology has created for the present investigation.
