Abstract
The paper discusses the limitations of the case study design for interpretive researchers aiming at theory building. Although the advantages of case study methodology are widely recognised, the author reveals methodology strong positivist underlying assumptions. It is explained why grounded theory method adds to the case study design when interpretive researchers aim at theory building. The author reflects upon his experience in conducting research using both case study research methodology and grounded theory method in a combined fashion
